Have you ever wondered where a song’s melody and chords come from? In most songs, they both come from the scale. This course shows you how that works in the key of B minor. B minor is closely related to D major, so many of the notes will already feel familiar. You’ll learn the B minor scale plus two variations that give minor music its unique flavor. You’ll practice each one in both hands with the best fingering and pick up Jonny’s methods for playing scales quickly and smoothly.

Next, you’ll learn how chords are built from the B minor scales and the 10 most common chords in this key. Then you’ll learn four of the most common chord progressions (chord patterns), so you’ll recognize them when you play real songs in B minor. To bring it all together, you’ll learn Jonnylito, a fun Latin tune and a tip of the hat to “Despacito.” You’ll also learn a calypso-style left-hand pattern that gives it a rhythmic, island feel.

Once you’re comfortable, you’ll use inversions to make your chord changes sound smoother and apply them to Jonnylito. Then you’ll play it along with a bass and drums backing track, so it feels like you’re playing in a Latin band. Finally, you’ll learn simple ways to play chords for someone else to sing or play along to.

Fun to learn some Latin American
I'm slowly working my way through the major and minor scales for all twelve keys. To make learning scales more interesting each key has a piece to learn. One of the things I'm enjoying is the variety of styles for the pieces. For example, the B Minor piece is Latin American. That's not a style I'm interested in learning (though I know that Jonny has courses on it). It was fun to learn something in this style, to hear what I'm missing out on.

Be patient because sometimes you will have to pause and practice on your own for a few days to keep up with video
Patience Prevails
Courses are presented well. I just have to remember to pause the video and practice. Sometimes that could take 5 days one song. You're not going to go at the same pace as the video. Pause and practice. Great fun.

Fun to learn some Latin American
