Discovery!
This Is a Great course To Learn how all 12 notes get to be used.
A Whole New World
Talk about a magic lamp! This course was super helpful! My head was swimming with extensions and alterations (and still is), but this course helped me make sense of all that information both sonically and melodically. While I'm not ready to rush out and and book a solo piano gig (yet) I am ready - nay, eager! - to apply these techniques to my compositions. That is exactly what I wanted to do with these courses - improve my keyboard "chops" to better play my ideas and to expand my palette as a composer to enrich those same ideas. Thanks again!
Concise and fun
Great info, and incredibly practical. Jonny is always a great and enthusiastic teacher and super fun to listen to (even when he maybe didn’t get a ton of sleep the night before? :) ). This site has been the best thing (next to practice) for my piano-playing in four decades, quite literally.
Inspiring
Once again I have learned so, so much from another course😁 Coming from a classical background, with a love of jazz, I have for many years, wondered what the secret was, to playing cool, beautiful, jazzy chords. And for many years I didn’t know where to start or how to learn. Thank goodness for piano with Jonny. Upper structures are a game changer! I wasn’t even familiar with the term ‘upper structure’, but I’m delighted to now know what this is and even more delighted at how relatively easy they are to learn/play. Obviously there will be some practise involved in getting them fluent from memory in other keys, but the actual concept is easy. WHAT A REVALATION😄 Also, I once again applaud the fantastic teaching style and content from Jonny, who is a great motivator, always encouraging and is so thorough without the lessons being overwhelming. The tip on using the upper structure triad #3 as an intro ‘arpeggio’ run is another fantastic ‘Ah,…so that’s how you do that’ - moment. This course is a must if you want to take your dominant chords up another level.
