In this interview, Jonny sits down with professional jazz pianist, composer, and educator – Jimin Park.
Park is a master of many different piano styles, including stride, bebop, swing, Latin, fusion, and ragtime. Her widespread knowledge of jazz theory enables her to replicate styles of various jazz masters, including Bud Powell, Erroll Garner, Bill Evans, and many others.
In this video, Park shares her tips and tricks for improvising jazz piano. She demonstrates some essential stride piano licks, how to practice common jazz rhythms, and how to use harmony when playing jazz tunes. Park and Jonny also discuss specific ways to practice various styles of jazz, along with practical tips for structuring your practice time.

Park graduated from the Berklee College of Music on a full-ride scholarship for Jazz Piano. She took 2nd prize in the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing contest, and has won several awards at prestigious classical competitions. Park has now has amassed a huge Youtube following with over 100,000 followers and over 5 million views.
