Excellent as always
John is an excellent teacher showing technique at both slow and playing speed, discusses the song structure, melodic and harmonic structures, and provides insight into how to improv/build a solo within the song structure. The backing tracks are great as well. Great site for learning and great course on a classic swing jazz-blues tune.
Time to practice my chops !
Definitely pushing the envelope now...but good times!
Tasteful arrangement
This course offers so many great insights into what is being played and why! I especially appreciate the emphasis on chord degree numbers and where ideas come from that John uses. I am so glad I participated and will review this course again!
EXCELLENT!!
Loved everything about this course! All aspects are well explained. I especially appreciate the "sample solo" as it gives me a blueprint for doing my own thing!
Stick with the BASIC tricks
This is another amazing challenge broken down into the standard 4-week parcels. I am learning to appreciate the way that John Proulx leads you along through the lead sheet, left hand, right hand and hands together sections each week. Taking the arrangement 4 bars at a time is a nice approach. I benefit most by using the recorded versions of each challenge, and pausing frequently to work on each 4-bar segment until I (almost) master it at a slower pace. Then I try to pick up the pace a bit with the goal of keeping up with John. A lot of the trills and slides, and ultimately the solos, only come later with a lot of practice. Keep it up John and the entire PwJ crew.
