Can you believe it?! The Christmas season is already at our doorstep. ๐
I love the feeling of driving down our street in Tennessee and seeing old country homes decked out in the most dazzling of lights.
Then I get home, sit at the piano, and these festive melodies start pouring out of my fingers.
It’s joy, joy, joy in the May household.
But there’s one tune in particular that I always play to kick off the Christmas season.
And my 7-year-old son does not let me forget to play it.
In this week’s Quick Tip, I’m going to help you kick off the Christmas season with a crowd favorite, and this version won’t disappoint.
It’s got crunchy chords, sweet fills, and I guarantee that you can easily learn it in a week or two.
You could say that it has all the bells and whistles… Christmas bells, that is. ๐
Get ready, because Santa Claus is coming to town!
My parents made it very clear to us at a young age that Santa Claus was not real, and I always appreciated that growing up.
But being the father of a 7-year-old, it’s so tempting!
Why? Because even as adults, it’s still so fun to imagine, dream, and create.
Like children, we too want to play along, because deep inside, we still possess that childlike joy.
The gift is that our kids remind us to keep “playing along”, and not to take everything too seriously.
I’m not telling you to believe in Santa, but I am telling you that this holiday season, I hope that you can tap into an innocent, childlike joy that spurs you to imagine, create, and explore at your piano.
Those are the best moments in Christmas. Heck, these are the best moments in life.
So this Christmas, I want to start with a little toast: To your imagination. May it come fully alive, in your music, and beyond.
