Welcome to “Honeysuckle Rose” for the beginning level, as part of our new “Simple Songs” series where we focus less on the theory and more on learning the notes, fingering, and the arrangement.

This course is divided into 5 lessons, each consisting of a different part of the arrangement. Lesson 1 begins with the intro, and Lessons 2-4 teach the melody and chords of the body of the song. Lesson 5 ends with the full arrangement along with a backing track. You’re going to love this arrangement!

Course Objectives
  • Learn a jazzy intro
  • Master the melody, chords, and fingering for both A and B sections
  • Wrap it up with a simple ending
  • Combine everything we've learned for a final arrangement
Learning Focus
  • Songs

Honeysuckle Yeah!
I just loved this course. As a jazz piano newbie, I love this Simple Song Series. Not so Simple that it sounds absolutely beginner, but challenging and a great bridge to more complex arrangements. This Series is helping me get the feel of 7th chord shells under my fingers while also adapting to the playing simple syncopated rhythms in both hands. It also has enough repetition of parts to give a new player like myself the opportunity to play through a whole song without having too much new material to memorize. My favorite part is the B Section and the exposure to playing 6th intervals which sound so cool and bluesy! Thank you John and PWJ for this jazz beginner series and teaching me how to learn jazz basics in a fun and accessible way! Love it!!
